Gary Zimmerman, Chief Executive Officer
Gary developed the idea for Max during the financial
crisis and leads the strategic direction of the firm. Prior to
founding Max, Gary was an investment banker at Citigroup,
where he was a Managing Director and Global Head of Strategic
Solutions for Sovereign Wealth Funds, responsible for advising
these funds on their direct investment activities globally. In
that role, he spent considerable time in Europe, the Middle East
and Asia advising funds with more than $5 trillion of assets under
management. Previously, Gary advised companies and private equity
firms on mergers & acquisitions at Citigroup, Societe Generale and
Merrill Lynch.
Gary graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University with a
degree in Economics, and subsequently completed an executive
education program at the Wharton School of The University of
Pennsylvania.
Ateet Adhikari, Chief Operating Officer
Ateet is responsible for managing all operational aspects of
Max, including supporting our relationships with partners;
identifying new opportunities for growth and innovation;
overseeing Max’s daily operations, compliance, and
customer success program; and mentoring and growing our highly
talented team.
Prior to joining Max, Ateet was the Chief Operating
Officer of ShopRunner, where he was a key player in the
capitalization, growth and ultimate sale of ShopRunner to FedEx in
2020. In this role, Ateet led strategy, partnerships, account
management, operations, innovation, legal, human resources, and
governance.
Earlier, Ateet worked in venture capital as the Vice President of
Sandbox Industries/Healthbox, as a Venture Expert-in-Residence at
IDEO, and as an associate at McDermott Will & Emery, Huron
Consulting Group, and the William J. Clinton Foundation/Clinton
Health Access Initiative.
Ateet graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in
Economics, the University of Illinois with his Juris Doctor, and
Harvard University with a Masters in Public Administration.
Michael Halloran, Head of Business Development and Partnerships
Michael focuses on building relationships with registered
investment advisers and other wealth management firms and manages
our partnerships with other platforms.
Prior to Max, Michael worked at Morgan Stanley, where he
focused on new product launch for banking and private wealth
management. He also managed the team in charge of global wealth
management’s technology partnerships.
Before Morgan Stanley, Michael was a Managing Director at Scient
where he led digital strategy projects. He began his career as a
consultant at Gemini Consulting (now Capgemini) where he worked on
the launch of the UK’s first online bank. Michael graduated from
Brown University and has an MBA from London Business School.
Rachel Bourne, Head of Bank Partnerships
Rachel is responsible for developing and overseeing our
relationships with banks and other financial institutions. She
also works together with our partner banks to identify new areas
for collaboration and product development.
Rachel has more than 12 years of banking experience with
traditional and online banks and was directly involved in the
first acquisition of a bank by a fintech when LendingClub
purchased Radius Bank in 2021. She previously held roles in data
analytics, marketing, project management and relationship
management, including the management of the Fintech and BaaS
partnership program at Radius Bank.
Rachel is a certified financial marketing professional (CFMP) from
the American Bankers Association and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in
Business Administration from Colby-Sawyer College and a Master’s
Degree in Organizational Leadership from Southern New Hampshire
University.
